A Pretty Pain

I have a handful of Ulta polishes and for the most part have been pretty happy with them.  This one is an exception.  This is Ulta Chic Peek

For starters, while the application of this polish was great, it did not wear well at all.  The wear you're seeing on the tips is after just one day and I didn't even go to work.  By the end of day two it was a ratty mess.

Also, notice the nicks and dents?  This polish did NOT want to dry!  You've heard of quick drying polishes, this was a slow one.  After 20 minutes with about 5 of those being in front of a fan, it was still super tacky to the touch so I put some Seche Vite over the top, later that evening I was still able to dent it.  Not a happy camper.

Now I know that it could be  a base coat/top coat issue, so I'm willing to give it another go to see if those changes make a difference, if it's a body chemistry thing I'm out of luck.

The color is nice, I actually have an eyeshadow just this shade and shimmer that I love, I was hoping to have a coordinated look with nails and eyes but I don't think I'll be wearing this polish that often.

Thanks so much for stopping by.  If you haven't yet, take a moment to enter my 200+ Follower Giveaway and have a wonderful day!

I Envy Atlantis

I really liked the way my Foxy Lady mani turned out and decided to give it another whirl. Here I've taken and applied 2 coats of Ulta's Envy over my OPI Ridge Filler. From there I took China Glaze Atlantis and done a diagonal french. Lastly, with my Stripe Rite gold (not the glitter) I drew a thin dividing line between the two.
I'm really liking this look and the fact that it's sooo simple. I don't need guides to get a proper curve like a regular french and it's impossible to mess up. Can't get better than that right?

Ulta Envy

What's that? Did I hear a collective groan of "not another green!" Ok ok, I'm sorry, I promise I'll do something completely different here soon I promise, I have an idea for this polish and then I'll kick out a...red, I haven't posted a lot of reds. I just couldn't resist this, it was calling my name. Let's just chalk it up as a color choice brought on by a feverish mind. :)

I'm feeling lots better though thank goodness and while my sense of smell is still not so hot I can once again taste my food. I don't handle illness well, I turn into the biggest baby.

So, Envy...Isn't it perfectly named? What a glorious, glowing green. Application was perfect, nice and smooth. This is two thick coats over OPI's Ridge Filler with China Glaze Fast Forward and as the top coat. I mix my polishes like I mix my drinks. :)

Now I don't know which came first, but this and Nina's Ultra Pro "Emerald City" are almost perfect dupes. Not that I mind, Envy is perhaps a wee bit deeper of a green, but unless you looked really close you wouldn't notice. I would have painted a few fingers with both but that little light bulb didn't come on until after the fact so take my word for it if you will.
