China Glaze TTYL

My brain is unable to come up with the catchy title it thinks it should but oh well. Can you believe it, I'm wearing PINK!!...and I like it. Proof that even I can't resist pink when it's got some holo action going on.
This is two coats over OPI Ridge Filler, my new favorite base coat. The formula is a bit runnier than I'm used to so I had polish rivers running around my cuticles on the first couple of nails, but ones I got that figured out application was a breeze, nice and smooth, no drag what so ever. I wish all polishes applied this easily.
It's even lovely in shade. Very dainty. I think I'll be able to get away with this as a military polish.
I've been contemplating tying to get back on active duty orders. It would mean I'd have to trim the nails a lot shorter and all the fun colors would have to wait for the weekend. :( but I'd have more money for buying fun polishes...catch 22. Something to think on.

Un-nail related post (by way of explaination)

Those of you stopping by my blog will notice the "Help the Wolves and Wolfdogs gizmo on the right.
I don't know how many of you are familiar with Animal Planets Pit Bulls and Parolees. It's a "reality" show following Villalobos Rescue Center. Tia is an amazing woman and I have the greatest admiration for her.
What I didn't know is that before pit bulls there the wolves and wolf dogs. With Wolf Connection taking over their care due to the location change there is a need for additional funds. They are in the running for 25K through the Pepsi Refresh Project.
One thing I'm very passionate about is animal welfare and I enjoy doing what I can do to help. I don't however believe in pushing my views off on other. The vote button is there to be a daily reminder to me to vote. If you feel so inclined to vote also then wonderful.
My understanding is that wolfconnection.org is in 60-something place at the moment and voting closes on the 30th of this month so all the votes they can get help.

OPI DS Mystery

While this is a beautiful color, I am just not loving it on me as much as I thought I would. I think it's because I'm lusting after 'Glamor'.
I made the mistake of putting it on in front of a blowing fan so application was streaky and a bit goopy. Since I'm still running a bit of a fever though the fan was a necessity to keep my brain from boiling in my skull. This is two coats
Maybe it's just me, I mean really, what's not to love about a deep, almost black purple with copper glitter? I personally think that it looks better in shade than full sun, for some reason it really makes the copper glitter glow.

It's probably just a mood thing, but I'm predicting this polish won't last far past tomorrow.

Still here...sorta.

Still feeling ucky, this cold has got from my chest to my sinus's. On top of that another massive toothache took me to the dentist yesterday, this time on the other side. I have two more teeth that need re-do's on their root canals. :( I'm on antibiotics again, we'll see how far they take me.
I hope to get somepolish posting done tomorrow. Fingers crossed.

Meanwhile, Lucy my Holland chicken is here to keep and eye on things.

Foxy Lady

What sort of Karma would make me sick right after I get my big haul of China Glaze. The kind of sick where polish fumes make me cough a lung up. :(

I managed to get this mani done before it hit me full force.
Pardon the thumb cuticle, it's had some rough treatment as of late

This is two coats of China Glaze Foxy which is a glorious fiery rust color that applied like a dream. From there I took one of my ebay 2 way polish pens in a copper glitter and painted a diagonal line across the nail. Then I took Stripe Rite in the liquid gold color (not glitter) and did a thin line under it. Finally I took Sinful Colors All About You and painted from the glitter stripe to the tip.
I like the effect it gave, subtle but eye caching. Here is a better look at that close up.
The copper glitter is a lot courser and allows more of Foxy to show from beneath while the finer gold of All About You is more dense and opaque while still having the flash from some red glitter.

I really like this diagonal mani, it's super simple. I may have to fall back on it some more once I'm healthy again.
Off to nurse myself with a cup of Lemon Zinger tea with a lime slice (since we're out of lemons). It's my ultimate feel good for what ails me tea, and bed. Hope you all have a wonderful day.

It was Gargantuan!!!

The name of this polish makes me want to laugh. It's like a tall tale, "and it was thiiiis big!" or a spin off from James and the Giant Peach. How about Gregory and the Gargantuan Grape.
I know what you're thinking, "another green, when will it stop?" Truth be told I had two beautiful purples for you, but then I got to looking at the photos and realized that I hadn't cared for my cuticles properly after an acrylic re-do and the shame made me junk all the photos.
This color is quite fabulous though, very well named, my nails resemble big juicy almost glow in the dark, green, grapes and now I'm craving some so a trip to the store is in order.
This is three thick coats over Orly Bonder with Sally Hansen's Insta Dri as the top coat. If there were something I'd improve on is that it be a lot more opaque. I was pretty surprised at how sheer this goes on. I was expecting a nice dense cream.
Overall though, I'm in love love.

Off topic, can you believe how quickly this month/year has gone! Happy September to you all, may the new month bring you many new polishes!
